The reviews regarding crumpled menus are fact. If a perfect menu is important to your food experience select a different diner. The service is direct and to the point. Some might consider it impersonal but I find it refreshing. I was greeted, had my beverage and order placed in less than 2 minutes upon entering. If you want a fantastic "home cooked" breakfast this is the place for you. Remember the day when your mom/dad sat you down and said, do you want x or x and you selected? Expect a similar experience (except there are a long list of choices on the crumpled menu) with the great taste of home and you won't be disappointed. I selected the two eggs with sausage patties and extra crispy home fries($5.10). The home fries were cooked to perfection. My companion had the two eggs and steak ($8.25). When I return I'm getting that next time. $17.66 for two with two beverages - can of coke and coffee, I'm in. It is CASH only so get your greenbacks.

Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Server threw one crumpled menu at our table for three people. I had three hairs on my omelette and home fries. Little boy behind the counter wouldn't stop picking his nose while serving meals. I Did not receive the discount for the hairy dish! They lost two other tables who were waiting too long for drink orders and a menu.

A cash only diner with sImple, American-style breakfast options. No frills or pocket bending prices either. Very accommodating staff! Loved the iced tea w/ smashed ice. Overall satisfied, but loads of competition in the area to explore with healthier options & variety. Regards, #FoodCriticUSA

This place is horrible the waitress had no personality, was rude, threw your plates down in front of you, never smiled. The food was equally as horrible I had green spots in my eggs I would definitely recommend not going there!

what a great find! Thanks to a wonderful waitress at another restaurant (see my review of Jackie's on Corey Street) in St Pete Beach, we found Gayle's diner for a great, inexpensive breakfast! Looks like a hole in the wall trailer on the outside but don't be put off! Inside is clean, friendly, fast service with good food. Lots of old time diner touches that add to the bright and fun atmosphere here. They only take cash, but you won't need much of it! Our full breakfast for two cost about $14 plus tip.

Looks like a quaint little cafe from the outside. Inside appears as a clean diner atmosphere. Waitress asked if i wanted ketchup or hot sauce. When i responded with "both please" she asked which brand of hot sauce then brought a different sauce than i chose and no ketchup. Had to ask a different waitress for that. My girlfriend meanwhile found a hair in her eggs and sent it back. New plate after short delay but no apology for hair or offer to drop that from bill. Will not return

I have given this place a try twice. We walk in and sat down, the table was dirty. Which was fine, but after 10 minutes the only lady working came over and I asked her when she got a chance to wipe the table. She said "when I get a chance Because I obviously don't have a rag." She came back another 10 minutes to get our order. The country fried steak was chewy and was thin and not homemade. My sister ordered grilled chicken and it was so overlooked she couldn't cut it up. There are sooo many good places to eat on the beach with better service and the food is 10x better. Will never return. Other locals I know feel the same way.

It might have been quicker to walk to Paducha and swim across the Ohio river, but we finally got breakfast. Okay. I'm exaggerating a bit, but the kitchen is a little sluggish. I could tell the cook was working hard to crank the food out. I kinda felt bad for him. Maybe they can hire another cook. He really looked winded. The food was pretty good. Simple diner fare. Nothing surprising. It's a cute place, but it could use a makeover and some added charm. Seems like a favorite spot for locals. The service was great and friendly. Our waitress apologized several times for the delays, which really were not all that bad to be honest. They might try to jazz up the menu a little. A juke box would be nice, or even just some music might be an improvement. The atmosphere leaves a litte to be desired. A fresh coat of paint and maybe a little wall art would do wonders. I do like the joint though. It has that old school diner vibe that is sorely from the world. They just need to improve on this vibe.

If you're searching for a typical American breakfast of eggs with bacon or sausage and toasted bread, this is the place. It's family owned and inexpensive. Opens at 6:30 a.m.

Good basic diner. Eggs cooked right, regular pancakes, crispy bacon. Normal american diner coffee. Nothing fancy, nothing bad.

I love places like Gayle's. Its been around for over 50 yrs and not much has changed. From the furniture to the food everything's probably exactly the same. It's the farthest thing from pretentious, it's your grandmothers dining room table. A straight to the point, stick your bones classic greasy spoon. These are the kind of places I gladly throw my money at.
